The 3rd Olde Farmhouse Vintage Market is this Saturday September 28th 9am to 6pm
Admission is $5.00 - Free Parking!!
It is being held in doors at the Albion Fairgrounds 23514 105 Ave. Maple Ridge
https://www.facebook.com/events/148745518651654/

I wont be there with all my goodies (thats another story)
but there is over 40 shabby chic and vintage vendors going to be there offering amazing items.
One of those vendors is Dianne of The Painted Door

I met Dianne this past spring, she is a follower of mine and wanted to donate a piece of furniture.
When we were talking in her driveway she asked me if I would like to come in and see some of what
she had done. Well Im always excited to see what other ladies are doing so definitely accepted the invitation.

She show me her dining table, chairs, and hutch that she painted. She also turned a regular glass
coffee table into an awesome oversized tufted living room ottoman. She had a few smaller pieces
around the house painted including this storage bench upstairs.

The thing that she showed me last was some cupboard doors partially painted in the garage,
it was great meeting with her and seeing what she had accomplished. We finished up, said our
good byes and I was on my way again.

It wasnt till the next weekend she sent me this picture early in the day asking how much I thought
she should sell them for. Well later that day they were sold.

A few days later I offered a sign suggestion and she did this next sign,
which ended up going to The Passionate Home.

And I tell you she hasn`t looked back since.
This next picture is from her facebook page.

So this weekend in the wonderful wet west coast style stop in to the
OLD FARMHOUSE VINTAGE MARKET
and see Dianne at THE PAINTED DOOR.
Tell her George and sent you!

THE SECRET TO MY HOME TOUR

Jumat, 20 Mei 2016

Today I am happy to share a home tour update with you.
I finally found the right piece for the wall that helps define a line between the bedroom
area and the sitting area. For those not familiar with the space,
the main living space is set up like a bachelor suite, kitchen, living, sleeping all in one open area.

The full HOME TOUR can be seen here with a big secret at the end, be sure to read all the way to the bottom.

I found this reclaimed window cabinet on the roadside ...
Maybe if everyone chanted quietly "Curbside Treasure!" at the same time your neighbors will put something great out for you to find too ... It was just a thought.

One pane of glass is missing and its really crooked but I adore it, and you see how well it
works over the printer trunk.

BEFORE                     AFTER

For those who missed out on a cool way to hide your printers here it is again ...

THE WEATHER TIN HANDLES large nightstands

Kamis, 12 Mei 2016

Besides the 12 days of fog, the weather has been nice enough here that I have been able to
spray paint some things out side. As well my friend calls just to let me know how
upset he is that its warmer in Western Canada than at his home in Central Florida.
Heres hoping spring comes to everyone a bit sooner than expected.

This is a pair of nightstands I finished thanks in part to the nice weather.
They are quite large like the ones below.

They are painted in 50 -50 mix of ASCP Old & Pure White.

I used a set of antique tin swing handles that have been sitting around in the Etsy shop. I really
adore antique handles and was surprise these were still available, so I liberated them.
The back plates are thin and the detailed shape is pressed into the metal. I love the look!

To create these I took a plain set of pine nightstands and attached coffee table legs to them.
If you want to learn more about how I do this check out this article I wrote:
http://blogspot.ca/2013/11/tutorial-adding-legs-to-nightstands.html

This pair of large nightstands has been listed on the SHOWROOM page with price and dimensions.

THE BIRTHDAY CHAIR antique white chair

Rabu, 11 Mei 2016

I finished painting and upholstering that green vintage desk chair
I showed you last week. It was done for a special little girls birthday.
I have a lot of ppl ask if upholstery is easy,
my answer is usually always the same.
It is the tear down that is horrible.
You are dealing with rusty staples and tacks, and this chair had been
re-upholstered before, making it almost impossible to get all the old staples out.
I actually used an angle grinder to deal with most of them. (dont do this at home)
Sometimes you also find animal hair, grass, cotton, and burlap,
all of which are dusty and dirty. So this is not my favorite thing to do.
Once I get past all that and start to rebuild, repaint, and reupholster
I find it fun!

THE POWER OF PINK pink dresser

This is a big reminder of how powerful color and paint can be.

This dresser use to be in a garage storing tools and other manly things.

The three ASCP colors I worked with were Coco, Antoinette, and Old White.

She has six pretty pink glass knobs and hand painted details on the trim.

She was flat as a pancake so I added trim pieces to fancy her up and give her some curves.
These are off cuts that were donated to the Restore and I was luck enough to show up at the right time to find them. I know if I dont stop in to check Ill just never know what I will be missing out on, so you be sure to stop into your local RESTORE and see what you can find.
