COTTAGE SIGN lady pamela

Sabtu, 30 April 2016

Lady Pamela emailed me after stumbling upon my last show in South Surrey,
she also happens to be a fellow blogger that I follow.
Here is some of the email she sent me:
Hi ,
I have been wanting a sign for my home that says "Lady Pamelas Cottage" for many years now,
but could never decide on what style exactly. I really loved the signs you had at the sale.
The only thing that I know for sure is that it has to say "Lady Pamelas Cottage" on it.
Other than that, perhaps my favorite white roses.
I enjoy working on signs and even more when there is a direction as clear as Pamelas.
Her sign is made from a vintage foot board cut to 35" wide to fit her space and an old rose mirror frame.
Yes Mother if the roses look familiar it is your old mirror from the bathroom.
Dont give me any grief you gave it to me years ago.
The new owner has only seen photos so far but here is some of what she wrote me:
! My mouth dropped open.
It is soooooo beautiful and perfect.
I cant believe you caught the essence of my decorating soul.
I am giddy with happiness.
Lady Pamela
And now I need a favor from you.
Over the weekend I received a very nice email with this attachment.
Look familiar ??   Look again ...
Katie, a local graphic designer played with my header logo and came up with this.
I think this is so very cool that she did this and now I want you to weigh in on which one you
would like to see when you come to my page.
The new crisp professionally designed one
or
The old familiar one I made

HOW TO MAKE A DRESSER 2ft TALLER cottage country cabinet

Minggu, 03 April 2016

I once saw something similar to this next furniture project and knew I wanted to recreate it.

It was midnight and I had started to tear several pieces of furniture apart.

5 days later here is what came of all the work.

I have had this piece hiding in the back for almost a year,
flip flopping over whether to sell or keep it.
I love it so much I have been trying to make it work in my space but dam it all,
the trailer wont get any bigger no matter how hard I try to envision it to.
It has a wonderful blend of cottage styling with country charm,
and no one else on the block will have one just like it!
It is finished in ASCP Pure White with lots of lightly distressed detailing over a dark brown stained pine.
It started as a simple pine seven dresser.
I used a set of turned legs from a country kitchen table to lift it up.
*********
Yes, you read that right I picked up a dresser and put it on a kitchen table ... so to speak.
Reclaiming at its best ....
I used 20 drawer sides to build the interior shelves
and 8 drawer fronts for the top of the cabinet.

Save your drawers ladies, its free lumber!

I trimmed each opening (where the drawers use to be)

The original top from the dresser is now the bottom shelf.
It is nice thick pine making the base super strong and sturdy.

I finished it off with a nice waxing with ASCP clear wax and buffed a nice shine to
the flat smooth surfaces.
