JOY JARS christmas tutorial

Sabtu, 16 April 2016

Ive nicknamed this project JOY JARS for the first set I ever saw
done by Miss Niamh of Kathleen Thomas Designs

This is a simple tutorial with big impact and continued use.
Its also another use for our ever loving Mason Jars we ALL collect.

Supplies:

Bath Salts - $8 Walmart 4kg
Metal Spray Paint
Tealite Candles
Adhesive Letters
Canning Jars w/lids

Start with getting your lids painted in the color of your choice.
Using a metal spray paint will ensure durability.

Fill the number of jars you need for your perfect word with your Epsom Salts.
Fill to the bottom of the threads.

Next adhere the letters to your jars.
Use the opposite side to any original lettering your jars already have.

Add your tealite.
If put at the right level to the jars threads the flickering candle light will bounce off the rings.

After the holidays,
remove the candle, screw the lids on, and add them to your bathroom decor
with the original lettering facing out.

You now have the perfect excuse to take a nice long bath.

PAINTING JARS tips

Sabtu, 19 Maret 2016

I always have a selection of painted mason jars available. They have so many uses around the house
and they are an easy an inexpensive way to add color to a room. There are 3 different blues in this
photo and they are all custom mixed starting with ASCP Provence. I spray my jars to get a uniform
finish without brush markers. I also wax my painted jars. The longer you wait to distress the
better. Give the paint some curing time, i.e. a day or two. These 2 jars seen below are another ASCP
 custom mixed grey color.

They have been photographed a top of a project Im currently finishing up. A pair of three drawer
dressers that could be used bedside. The first is complete as you can see below. The second is still undergoing the paint process so they will be listed soon.

If you are interested let me know and I can provide some more details.

PAINTING MASON JARS

Jumat, 19 Februari 2016

Annie Sloan Chalk Painted Mason Jars - custom mixed colors, sprayed, and waxed

Because I have a spray gun and a compressor I get to spray my glass canning jars
so it can go quickly however as with anything there are always draw backs.

When I want to change colors I have to clean my gun and get a new color set up.
If I were brush painting I could simply go back and forth with each color pot and brush.
When you spray you have a dedicated place to do it so everything has to move to a drying location.
When you use a brush you let the item dry right where you painted it.

I like putting 3 different jars together for flower vases.
You can use a single jar in the bathroom for toothbrushes, or cotton balls.
Pens and pencils hid nicely inside the wide mouth jars but you can still get them out easily.

George is getting quite good at waxing and had a hand in getting these jars ready for
visitors this weekend so we have various brands of these painted mason jars ready for your decor.
