WHERE DO U GET UR LEGS nightstand

Rabu, 11 Mei 2016

One question I get asked a lot is "where do you get the legs you add to furniture?"

The answer is everywhere.
Most of my legs are salvaged from other vintage pieces but sometimes
I can find new legs at Hardware stores. Legs can be cut from bed posts,
pillars, table legs, and chairs.

NOTE
I only take legs from pieces that are not worth keeping together.

I bought this chair just before I got sick and planned to show you how to take it apart for all the
useful parts. That plan went out the window with the oncoming fever I was sporting a few hours later.

I knew I wanted it just for parts, and look at the stained underside of the
chair who wants to work closely reupholstering that.
Eeekkkk!!!

I was able to use both the front and back legs from the chair for this nightstand.

R UR DRAWERS TIRED blue tall boy

Rabu, 17 Februari 2016

Time to show you some tips and tricks to refreshing your drawers.

Here is how this dresser transformed on the outside.

The color is just amazing distressed over the dark stained wood.

The dresser was in decent shape with only a few repairs needed.
The biggest problem was on the inside.

The drawers were lined with gold and black MacTac shelf liner.
Im sure once upon a time marbled black MacTac was very desirable,

 BEFORE                                                       AFTER

but its not just about pretty paper.

Everything about the interior was dirty and worn out.

So I removed the sticky black paper, pulled all the staples that also held the paper in, removed the
gluegun glue that also held the paper in, and then washed the entire drawer with soap and water.

Another simple trick is to lube your drawer runners so they run in and out much easier.
You can use a candle or a bar of soap by simply rubbing them along the bottom of your drawer.

Because I have my furniture paste wax handy most of the time I quickly paint some on the inside
along the drawer supports and even on the inside walls where the drawer might rub.

I finished these drawers off by lining them with a prepasted wallpaper.
I do offer a tutorial here about how to install unpasted wallpaper.
Here are some new treasures you can find on FIRSTFINDS etsy ...
