Talladega Time!

It finally time to head back to the Talladega Infield!!!!
This has been an event that I have been attending for about 8 years now, twice a year and I have never missed a NASCAR race at Talladega since the fist time I went.
I pull my camper up there and we stay in the infield and party for 4-5 days, it gets wild. There are about +60,000 fans in the infeild staying in everything from RVs, tents, and horse trailers. Lots of rednecks, lots of beer, lots of wild activities.
This year, we are going up on Wednesday and staying until Monday. We went on Wednesday last race and it was great getting their early. Usually I dont head up until Thursday though.
I cant wait but I have alot of work to do, getting the camper ready, buying the food, getting all of my friends beer and luggage in the camper, getting LOTS of ice, fixing some ruined cornhole bags, the list goes on and on........

It can happen to you ...

 

 

This is the kind of thing that can happen in the blink of an eye!

It happens to the best of us even when we take precautions.

 

 

Youre sitting quietly one morning reading a magazine and you turn the page and gaze upon a photo

that starts the wheels turning in your head and before you know it the kitchen island is covered with 

your next project and in my case it was a collection of lamps.

I went mad with the idea to finally making new ones with all the parts after looking at 1 pretty picture.

You all know the scene and nice clean kitchen turns into bedlam all because you decided to take a

 moment for yourself.

 

 

Ornate lamps at the second hand stores around here are not that cheap so Im not sure why

I am constantly trying to save them when I only work with them a couple times a year.

Storing them takes a great deal of room but I do enjoy when I can rebuild beautiful new ones.

 

I took apart each lamp washing the glass bits in the sink as I went.

The metal parts were all taken outside to get sprayed white.

 

 

By the end of the day I was out of white spray paint and I had several glass cuts to my hands.

 I also ran out of my lamp shade trim but not before finishing these 2 chandelier lamps.

I will have more coming soon but I have more wiring to do and some trim to find.

 

These 2 are not completely identical, but a close second.

One is taller and the shade is slightly wider than the other.?

 

All the crystals are glass and the bases are marble.

They are 100% recycled from other lamps.

BATH TIME WITH ANNIE SLOAN!

 

I have been waiting since last August to show you that I painted my bathtub with

ANNIE SLOAN CHALK PAINT and a recent photo shoot has aloud me to share it with you now.

I didnt want to tell you back when I first did it because it was new and fresh and clean and who

 knows if it would hold up over time.

Well almost a year later and it has held up perfectly, fyi we are in and out of the shower every day.

Plz understand I just painted the outside, not the inside of the tub where the water is.

I brushed the first coat on and left it for a day or so because it is very fragile when drying on

such as smooth porcelain finish. I then waxed it and added a second coat.

Yes you can paint ASCP right over the wax!!!

 

I smile from ear to ear everytime I walk past that room and dont see that harvest gold anymore!

BEACH TIME aqua side tables

During my last workshop I found out I had meet one of these ladies before.

I used to make driftwood furniture long ago and she had come to see me back then.

How cool is that!

Fastward a few days and I get an email from

another lady who has been out to visit,

Hiya !!!!
When I first saw your wonderful blog, I was taken away with such talent.
Then we started to correspond with each other and your friendliness and
messages were a joy to receive.
Now this is something that is really going to blow your mind!! We met long
before this time. I couldnt believe what I found in a box. Years ago we use to
hop in the car and go to different areas checking for garage sales. One such
day we came across one. I bought a beautiful glass hummingbird feeder at
this one. It was glass with brass and flowers painted on it. I still have it, but,
what caught our eye was the different amazing furniture creations that this
lady made.
Lets go back to what I found in the box. It was a business card from this
lady who does amazing things with driftwood. Yes !!!!!! This very talented
lady was/is you!! I couldnt believe it. When I saw your picture on your
blog I thought we had met before and now I have the proof that we had.
Small world!!  The work you do is so...What can I say...Awesome, beautiful, wonderful, a
treasure to own...I can go on and on, but, what I want to say is that you are
a treasure in this world. You are a beautiful one of a kind treasure awaiting
to be found by others in this world. I am glad that I found a really awesome
lady who long ago sold me a beautiful hummingbird feeder and then appear
again in my life when I needed you to be there.
Thank you for being the beautiful person you are!!
I want to thank these 2 ladies and everyone who has supported me then and now!
