This post is not about a piece of furniture or how to, its simple about what is going on with us.

 

 

I try to spend my weekends off the computer and with this handsome man as much as possible.

This past weekend was no different.

 

We went yard sailing and found a few items to play with. George found the Montreal book for his reading pleasure and I found the stool on the left with a broken leg.
The metal brackets will get painted white and I really didnt need the 7-UP crate but felt

 obligated to buy something at that particular yard sale. I will find a spot for it or eventually pass it along.

 

On to another important to me topic ...

I love sleeping in luxurious clean, fluffy, mix and match bedding, so I change my sheets weekly and I am always on the look out for the next coordinating piece.

Ive been compiling pictures of my bedding addiction to finally confess to you all but havent got to far yet with those pictures but know that I am at least letting the cat out of the bag.
 

 

Whats up with the furniture you ask?

 

The last 2 fancy carved frame chairs got put on hold while the weather has been warm

and I have been working outside. Doing the finishing of these chairs is best suited for inside.

 

 

I hope to find the time to write an article on sanding with tip and tricks using photos I have taken of these chairs. Tutorials take quite a bit of time to write with coordinating pictures.

 

 

There are several pieces Im working on outside including a hall tree, a bed, a closet,
a storage trunk, a console dresser, and a coffee table.

NOT JUST ANY WORD WILL DO how to apothecary cabinet

It was a nice looking 1930s china cabinet with a few issues.

All of the issues have been fixed now

and Im share with you how I dealt with some of them.

I didnot care for the pointy designs that embelished this cabinet,

the 2 side panels and door were removed and the piece along the top.

The door will be saved for another project.

Before starting a tear down like this

take your time to understand how each piece was originally attached.

This will go along way in getting a clean look when finished.

I replaced the whole front with a new set of doors making

it much easier to access the storage of the shelves.

Here is my first attempt at tackling the glass art and frosting,

FAIL!

Not the right font nor the right word.

Mistakes always offer a clearer direction.

The letters I used to create the reverved stencil are made of vinyl.

I make them myself the old fashioned away with a printer and a pair of scissors.

No fancy Silhouette machines here!
I created the arched effect in Word Art and mimic the arch shape with green tape for the next step.

I used a color called WEDDING CAKE and sprayed it with my paint gun.

Just got back froma cruise!

March the 7th my girlfriend and I went on a 5 night Royal Caribbean Cruise Line cruise and had a wonderful time. We went to Cozumel and Costa Maya, both of which are in Mexico. The weather was warm and beautiful, just a little windy, to bad we didnt get to go sailing.
One of my favorite things about the cruise was the food! Each night, we went to the captains dinner and had gourmet meals, things like: duck, escargo, lamb, lobster, pastas, exotic fish and excellent desserts. The best part was that you could order as much as you liked. So usually, I would order two or three appetizers, two or three main courses and some sugar free ice cream for desert. The platters were a bit small so any grown man would need more than one.
